Dairy Free Marble Cake

Making a dairy-free marble cake is a delicious and inclusive option for those who are lactose intolerant or have dairy allergies. Here's a recipe for a dairy-free marble cake:

Ingredients:

For the Chocolate Batter:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup unsweetened dairy-free milk (such as almond, soy, or oat milk)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

For the Vanilla Batter:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup unsweetened dairy-free milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. In two separate mixing bowls, prepare the chocolate and vanilla batters.

For the Chocolate Batter:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, and 1/4 tsp salt.

  2. In another bowl, mix 1 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 cup vegetable oil, 1 cup dairy-free milk, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar.

  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients for the chocolate batter and mix until well combined.

For the Vanilla Batter:

  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, and 1/4 tsp salt.

  2. In another bowl, mix 1 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 cup vegetable oil, 1 cup dairy-free milk, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar.

  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients for the vanilla batter and mix until well combined.

Assembly:

  1. To create the marble effect, drop spoonfuls of the chocolate and vanilla batters alternately into the prepared cake pan.

  2. Once all the batter is in the pan, use a knife or a skewer to gently swirl the batters together to create a marbled pattern. Don't overmix; you want distinct marbling.

  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick or cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean.

  4. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  5. Once the cake has cooled, you can optionally dust it with powdered sugar or drizzle it with a dairy-free chocolate ganache for added flavor and decoration.

  6. Slice and serve your dairy-free marble cake. Enjoy!

This dairy-free marble cake is just as delicious as traditional marble cake, but it's suitable for those with dairy allergies or dietary restrictions.
